This site is a museum of classic home science projects. It is not so much meant to be "how to" or educational, but more of a celebration of early to mid 20th century home experimentation and pop science illustration. Please read the FAQ to learn more about the philosophy behind it.
To find projects...
...you can search by the categorical listings of projects, or by the alphabetical index.
Help support the site!
Check out the Bizarre Stuff Shop for specially selected books, videos, and objects of wonder! Also thanks to everyone who has sent me material and classic science books... I can always use more!
New ideas for projects or additions to current projects are always welcome. Please see the Submissions page. (sorry - page not quite ready yet...)
...the other areas of this site (still in the works) - The Museum of Retro Pop Science Illustration and the Science Biography pages!
4/26/2005 A MAJOR (and somewhat obsessive) reworking of the Foxhole Radio pages. Build a radio from a razor blade! Learn a little history!
9/15/2004 Some minor revisions to the phonograph page (actually the first part of a major overhaul) including some added diagrams.
7/23/2004 The site has been dormant for a while, but now it's back in all of its glory! As time permits, I am planning many revisions, updates, and whole new sections with lots of new projects and enhancements of those already there. Thanks to everyone for all the years of support! Please note that there are still a few links not quite ready - such as some of the shop pages, submit and contact. I will have these up as soon as possible!
